A Memphis man shot two months ago has died, making him the 181st homicide in 2016, officials said Monday.

Crime scene tape

Donald Wilson, 40, was found around 2:12 a.m. on Aug. 6 in the 400 block of Forest View in the Parkway Village area. He was lying in the front yard suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition; he died Monday, Memphis police said.

Police believe Wilson confronted several suspects who were in his yard. One of them opened fire and hit him.

Police have made no arrests in the killing.

The city continues to be on a record-setting pace for homicides. At this rate, Memphis would register 227 killings for the year, easily surpassing the record of 213 set in 1993.
