Memphis Police investigate a crime scene in front of the Fire Station located at 4351 New Allen Road, where a man died following a shooting.

A triple shooting in Raleigh Thursday afternoon left one man dead on the front lawn of a fire station.

The incident began around 3 p.m. in the 4500 block of Spring Valley, where police said all three were shot. The victims apparently got into a maroon Honda SUV and drove to the nearby Fire Station 49 at 4351 New Allen Road seeking help.

Although two of those victims were hospitalized in non-critical condition, the third apparently died on the lawn near the flag pole at the station.  As police investigated the scene they covered the body with a blue sheet and later erected barriers to hide it from view.

Dozens of family members and friends gathered at a nearby convenience store. Family members identified the deceased as David Redick, 29. An aunt said Redick was married in June. His wife was on the scene but declined to speak. Several family members comforted her as she sat in the parking lot of the convenience store.

Police took three suspects into custody but no one had been charged late Thursday.

"It's sad, so often our days are interrupted with this gun violence. We really need to talk to our young people about the value of life," Memphis Police Department Col. J.E. Kirkwood said.
