The Golden State Warriors are off to a 1-2 start to the regular-season and displayed their frustration with a late-game meltdown in Memphis.

Warriors guard Stephen Curry and forward Kevin Durant were ejected with 43 seconds left the Grizzlies 111-101 win Saturday night in FedExForum.

Curry threw his mouthpiece after he thought he got fouled while scoring a layup. After vehemently arguing with the referee, Curry drew two technical fouls and was ejected. Durant was also tossed for his choice words to the officials.

“I was just frustrated,” Curry said. “Obviously, we didn’t play well. I was fouling too much the whole game. Down the stretch we tried to make a spirited come back but couldn’t get over the hump. That last play, I thought I got fouled and my frustration boiled over, I did something stupid to get kicked out and that’s what happened. Obviously, I’ll learn from it and try not to do it again.”

The Warriors complained about calls all night in what was a physical game.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr joked about Curry possibly being suspended by the NBA for his actions.

“He might be suspended eight maybe 10 games for that. It was egregious. It was awful. It endangered thousands of people in the stands,” Kerr said. “You’re asking the wrong guy. The league can figure that out.”

Durant and Curry downplayed the incident. Curry told reporters he didn’t throw his mouthpiece at the referee.

“No, if I tried to throw it at him or hit him I have pretty good aim,” Curry said. “I’ve thrown my mouth piece plenty of times and thrown it on the floor. Probably not the best thing to do but I’ve done it. I own up to it. I don’t think it’s a suspension or anything. My pockets will be a lot lighter for sure, though.”

Curry suggested that could receive a fine from the league.
