A 52-year-old man has died, three days after being run over by his wife in South Memphis, police said.

Milton Powell was found lying in the northbound lanes of Perry Road, just south of Dunn Avenue, on Nov. 18.

Witnesses told police that the driver of a small SUV hit Powell twice and then turned around and returned to the scene on Dunn.

Powell's wife, Annette Bailey, 58, was identified as the driver.

Powell was taken to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition. Bailey was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault/domestic violence, assault, DUI and refusal to submit to to a blood or breath test.

Powell died Monday from his injuries. Police said homicide investigators were told of Powell's death Tuesday.

Bailey will have her charges upgraded since Powell's death, police spokesman Louis Brownlee said.

She remains in jail on a $500,000 bond.
