MPD: One dead, one hurt in shooting at club

Memphis police confirmed that one person died in a shooting at a club on American Way on Wednesday night. Another victim was transported to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition. The killing marks the 219th homicide of 2016, increasing a grim record for the city.

Three ambulances had been sent to the O'Cielo Mexican Bar and Grill at 4672 American Way in Southeast Memphis, police and fire officials confirmed. Police had shut down the entire shopping center where the bar is located, which is near where the Mall of Memphis used to be. 

Two people were shot in the same club on June 20, 2015. Both survived.
