Victim identified in Tuesday afternoon North Memphis shooting

Two people were shot Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Looney and Montgomery in North Memphis after an apparent disagreement, and one of them has died, police said.

Police later identified the victim who died as Markell Watkins. The department didn't immediately provide his age.

Both victims were male. The shooting happened just before 2 p.m. and the victims were taken to Regional One Hospital by private vehicle, police posted on Twitter.

The condition of the second victim wasn't immediately available. A male suspect fled in a white truck with rims. Police are asking anyone with information to call 528-2274.
