Police: Teen admits to accidentally killing friend during shooting in North Memphis

A 19-year-old has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of another teen shot in the head last week while inside a car in North Memphis. 

Felix Dewberry has been charged with reckless homicide in the death of 17-year-old Dekario Linwood. 

Linwood was shot Nov. 8 in the 800 block of Saffarans Avenue. He was taken by private vehicle to the Regional Medical Center, where he died Nov. 10. 

Police said during the investigation Dewberry was developed as a suspect in the shooting.

Dewberry came to the homicide office Monday and admitted to investigators that he accidentally shot Linwood. He told police he was attempting to shoot at another person who was firing shots at their car when he accidentally shot Linwood in the head. 

Dewberry will be in court Wednesday.

Police said Saturday they also were searching for a 17-year-old boy as a person of interest in the incident. No one else has been charged in the shooting.
