Memphis police have identified a man shot to death Saturday after an argument over a car accident as Travis Johnson, 27.

Johnson was killed around 12:30 a.m. in a shooting near Barron and Will Scarlet in the Sherwood Forest area south of the University of Memphis. According to police, officers found Johnson on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

Police later discovered that Johnson's Ford Explorer struck a parked Nissan Altima. An argument ensued between Johnson and the owner of the second car. Johnson pulled out a handgun and shot the owner of the second car, police said. The victim's 26-year-old son then returned fire, killing Johnson.

Police said Sunday that this has been ruled a justifiable homicide, and no charges are expected.
