Man charged in Covington Pike area homicide

Ronald Melvinjam Taylor faces first-degree murder charges for shooting an individual on Friday at Plasma Biological Services on Covington Way.

Memphis police have charged Ronald Melvinjam Taylor, 30, with first-degree murder in the shooting death on Friday of a victim at Plasma Biological Services on Covington Way.

According to the affidavit, police found the victim, who officials have not identified, unresponsive and bleeding on the ground. Memphis Fire Department personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Taylor was developed as a suspect after a witness told investigators that Taylor was one of the last individuals at the business with the victim before the shooting.

After his arrest, Taylor admitted to investigators that he planned the killing.

No bond has been set and Taylor's first court hearing is on Monday.
