A man whose kidnapping was reported earlier this week by his wife, was found dead on Friday, Memphis police officials said.

Luis Santiago, 39, was found unresponsive in a wooded area on the 3300 block of Getwell with a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, a woman came to the Raines Station precinct to report that she and her husband had been kidnapped from the 4200 block of New Willow Road on Thursday by two men.

She said they were forced into a white Chevrolet pickup with a camper in the back. The woman told police they were both robbed and that she was sexually assaulted, but was able to escape. The woman also told police that she and her husband knew one of the men who allegedly kidnapped them.

The police have identified a 17-year-old suspect, but The Commercial Appeal does not typically identify juvenile criminal suspects. Investigators are also looking for a second suspect in the case, according a posting on the police department's Facebook page.
