Memphis police said a 39-year-old man was stabbed to death Friday morning outside a South Memphis apartment complex in a domestic violence incident.

Police received a call at 12:06 a.m. about a man lying in the street at Miller's Bend and Provine at the College Park apartments.

When officers arrived they found the man had a stab wound to the chest, and he was pronounced dead on the scene.

The victim's brother told police that his brother was staying at the apartment complex with a woman, but he did not know her name.

He said that his brother called him to pick him up, and when he arrived, he found his brother lying in the street.

Police took a woman into custody, but no charges have been filed.

"The preliminary investigation revealed that this was a domestic situation," police spokesman Louis Brownlee said in an email Friday morning.

This is the third fatal domestic violence incident in the last week in Memphis.
