Memphis police charge man in Fox Meadows fatal shooting

Memphis police have charged a man in connection with the shooting death of a woman Monday night in the Fox Meadows area, police said.

Mario Scales, 30, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 27-year-old woman. The woman's name has not been released by police yet.

Police said the shooting occurred shortly before 11 p.m. in the 3500 block of Kings Arms Cove, off Winchester and Fox Meadows.

Police found a woman shot multiple times in the front yard of the home. She died on the scene.  Police arrested Scales at a home in the 3500 block of Bishops Gate. In addition to the murder charge, Scales was also charged with violation of a protection order.

This was one of two homicides Monday night.

Around 6:30 p.m., police found a 17-year-old shot to death at a corner store at 367 Tillman Street in the Binghamton area.

Police have not released the name of the the teenager killed.

No arrests have been made in the teen's death, police said.
