Memphis police are investigating after a 23-year-old man was killed and another man was injured in a shooting outside a South Memphis corner store Friday morning.

Police were called to the Marathon gas station at 8 South Parkway East and Florida around 1 a.m. after someone in a dark-colored vehicle opened fire, said police spokesman Sgt. Louis Brownlee.

"Victim #1, 23, was fatally shot while sitting in his vehicle on the lot," Brownlee said in an email. "Victim #2, 41, was shot as he was washing off the gas station lot."

Brownlee said the second man was taken to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition, but was later upgraded to non-critical condition.

This is the second deadly shooting in South Memphis in less than five hours.

A 19-year-old man was shot and killed around 9:30 p.m. Thursday on Vaal and Kansas.

No arrests have been made in the shootings and police have not released the names of the two men killed, pending notification of family.
