A man charged with killing his wife and her sister Thursday at the couple's Hickory Hill home told police he shot the two after he found his wife with another man in their home the day of the shooting, according to an arrest affidavit.

George Earl Muhammad, 29, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his wife, Kendall Brown, 27, and her sister Kayla Brown, 19.

Police said the two sisters were found shot to death about 2 a.m. Thursday outside of Muhammad and Kendall Brown's home in the 3800 block of Shallow Wood Court.

The couple's five children were at the home during the shooting but were inside and not injured, police said. No one else was injured in the shooting, according to police.

An hour after the shooting, police said, Muhammad turned himself in at Crump Station police precinct.

According to an arrest affidavit, Muhammad told police that he came home early from work and alleged that he caught his wife with another man in their home.

"Defendant Muhammad stated that he became involved in a physical altercation with (Kendall) Brown over a handgun, and stated that he gained control of the gun and that was when he blacked out and didn't remember what happened afterwards, but he apparently shot and killed his wife and sister-in-law," according to the affidavit.

Muhammad told police he didn't remember driving to the police station and didn't remember what he did with the gun he used in the shooting, according to the affidavit.

According to court records, Muhammad has been charged with domestic violence against his wife in the past.

In 2012, Kendall Brown called police, telling officers that Muhammad choked her, slapped her, pushed her to the ground and threatened to kill her, according to an arrest affidavit.

Kendall Brown was six months pregnant at the time of the assault, which took place at a laundromat in South Memphis.

Muhammad pleaded guilty to domestic assault and was sentenced to one day in jail.

In Thursday's fatal shooting, Muhammad will be in court on the charges Monday. No bond has been set.
