Man dies after shooting at Whitehaven hotel

A man is dead after a shooting at America's Best Value Inn in Whitehaven on Monday evening.

According to Memphis police, officers were sent to a shooting call at the hotel at 1360 Springbrook shortly after 7:30 p.m. There was an apparent shootout between unknown individuals and one man was struck, said Memphis police spokeswoman Lt. Karen Rudolph.

The man was taken to the Regional Medical Center in extremely critical condition and later died.

No suspects are in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
