Memphis recorded its 90th homicide of the year Sunday when police responded to a call in the 4000 block of Westmont Road in southwest Memphis and found an unidentified man dead at the scene.
MPD spokeswoman Karen Rudolph said officers answering the shooting call found the victim unresponsive with a gunshot wound. Fire Department personnel arrived and pronounced the victim dead.
Rudolph said an investigation revealed the victim was talking to another man when a dark-colored SUV drove past and someone started firing a weapon from the vehicle, striking the victim. The suspects drove off westbound on Norfleet Avenue.
The investigation is continuing.
