Gunfire broke out during a robbery by a South Memphis convenience store this week, leaving one man dead and the alleged robber critically injured. Now the injured man faces a murder charge while still in the hospital.

A robbery victim was killed and a gunman was wounded in an attempted robbery outside McLemore Express Mart in South Memphis Wednesday night.

Charles Person-Gibson, age 36, is accused in the fatal robbery Wednesday night near the McLemore Express Mart at 1252 McLemore.

That victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The video shows the robber starting to go through the victim's pockets, the affidavit says. Meanwhile, the second victim gets a weapon from his car, runs up to the robber, and shoots him, leaving him in critical condition.

A video captured the incident, according to an arrest affidavit. The video shows the robber, later identified as Person-Gibson, walking up to two people with a weapon in his hand.

One victim gets away, while one remains standing there, and the robber shoots him, the affidavit says.

The second victim - the one who shot the robber - ran away from the scene, the police have said. The affidavit doesn't give his name or say what happened to him.

The accused robber, Person-Gibson, remains at the Regional Medical Center, the affidavit says.

He faces charges of first-degree murder related to a robbery, aggravated robbery, and being a convicted felon in possession of a weapon.

Person-Gibson had been convicted of aggravated robbery back in 2001, the arrest affidavit said.
