Memphis teens arrested in fatal shooting of 17-year-old

Memphis police have arrested two teens accused of fatally shooting a 17-year-old boy in Orange Mound Sunday.

The teen was pronounced dead at Methodist University Hospital after he was brought there by a private vehicle. His name has not been released by police until next of kin is notified. 

Police said officers were called to the hospital at 12:33 a.m. Sunday. The shooting is thought to have happened near the intersection of Semmes and Hoskins.

Monday, Marshawn Brakefield, 18, and a 16-year-old were charged with first-degree murder and first-degree murder in perpetration of aggravated robbery, said police spokesman Sgt. Louis Brownlee. 

Brakefield remains in jail at 201 Poplar where no bond has been set.  He will be in court Tuesday. The 16-year-old, whose name and gender have not been released by police, is in custody at juvenile court.
