Second man charged in shooting death of 18-year-old

Memphis police have arrested a second man in connection with the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old killed during a robbery at an East Memphis home.

Taquavious Durham, 19, has been charged with first-degree murder in perpetration of aggravated robbery and employment of a firearm during a violent felony.

Ronnie Stewart, 36, has also been charged in the fatal shooting of Tommy Johnson on Aug. 31.

Police said Stewart and Durham are accused of robbing and shooting Johnson at a home in the 1600 block of Cherry Road, according to an arrest affidavit.

Witnesses told police they heard the suspects planning the robbery. Stewart was arrested Sunday and admitted to police that he shot Johnson, according to an affidavit.

Johnson was pronounced dead at the Regional Medical Center.

Stewart and Durham will be in court Tuesday on the charges.
