Memphis police report that an 8-year-old child died Sunday after shooting himself, the third child shooting in as many days.

The shooting occurred in the 1000 block of Parkland Road. The victim was taken to Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center in critical condition, but he later died. The child's identity has not been released, and no other details were immediately available including whether the shooting was accidental.

The boy's father, Gari Settles, 38, has been charged with reckless homicide in the Saturday shooting.
