Unsolved killing prompts Memphis police to request tips

Memphis police are seeking tips in the unsolved case of a man who was shot and critically wounded last month and recently died.

At about 6:20 a.m. on July 30, officers responded to a shooting call at Riverview Park in the Riverview neighborhood of South Memphis, according to a police statement posted on Facebook.

They found a man who had been shot. He told officers someone had stolen his Buick LeSabre, burnt orange in color.

That man, 47-year-old Kevin Jefferson, was taken to the Regional Medical Center, where he died on August 18, police said. 

No one has been arrested. 

Police are asking anyone with tips to call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-2274 (CASH) or the Homicide Bureau at 636-3300.
