Teen charged in East Memphis fatal shooting

An 18-year-old has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man Tuesday afternoon on Barron Avenue in East Memphis.

Kenneth Starks has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Roy Jordan, according to an arrest affidavit. 

The fire department responded to the shooting in the 3500 block of Barron Avenue at about 4:30 p.m.

A man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after a shooting on Barron Avenue in East Memphis.

Paramedics found Jordan on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the Regional Medical Center where he died.

Police said Starks was on the scene and told investigators he witnessed the shooting. He was taken to the homicide office for questioning and during the interview he admitted to police that he shot Jordan while they were standing outside of his car, according to an arrest affidavit.

No motive for the shooting was stated by Starks in the affidavit. 

Starks remains in jail at 201 Poplar. No bond has been set.
